Cutting the cord

When things turn sour it's never easy to end them. However occasionally one has to accept that matters have devolved to a point where in they are (despite your wishes to the contrary) unlikely to improve but only get worse, and it's time to cut the cord and move on with your life. To continue to stay would only lead to a further compounding of frustration and that serves no constructive purpose. Naturally of course it grates with me to step away from something that has been a big part of my life over the last few years, but the reality is the carousel has long since become eye-rollingly predictable, and nothing would be gained by staying longer.
